Event Summary A recent study showed that reading aloud to children benefits the mental health and well-being of both the pupils, and the adults who are reading to them. In this session we will explore some of research on reading aloud and share some practical ideas for read aloud sessions in your classroom.
Event description After a brief review of research on the benefits of reading on mental health and well-being we will focus specifically on reading aloud. We will highlight the key findings of the recent report published by Farshore Farshore_Storytime-in-Schools_Whitepaper_FINAL.pdf and consider other research on the subject. We will then explore some practical ideas for reading aloud within the classroom

Learning outcomes Delegates will be more aware of the benefits of reading aloud to pupils, not just for the pupils but also for themselves as adults.
